AMLEV PECULIARITIES:

 Magneto-dynamic suspension system:
  • is based on  rare-earth permanent magnets and laminated steel cores covered by aluminum layer;
  • self-regulating without servo control;
  • produces stabilizing forces by  rare earth permanent magnets;
  • realizes self-regulation by employing non-linearity of saturated steel;
  • employs eddy currents in the aluminum layer to maintain magnetic flux in saturated steel cores
  • dangerous vibrations of a vehicle are impossible.

Linear propulsion motor with extended poles:

  • rotor’s poles are made of  rare-earth permanent magnets;
  • rotor’s poles change their length during vehicle motion;
  • stator is powered by three-phase current of constant frequency;
  • the length and cross-section of the stator’s winding turns are different on different parts of track;
  • self-regulation of motor’s speed and propulsion force are attained by synchronous changing rotor’s poles and pole pitches in correspondence with the turn length of the passed parts of the stator’s winding.

    three-phased current of constant frequency .

AMLEV ADVANTAGES:

 

  1. Safety:

    • failure of any auxiliary system of either guideway or vehicle, such as power system, control system, etc. cannot lead to collapse; at any shutdown the vehicle will continue its flight, gradually lowering its speed to the value Vo =20m/s when emergency supporting wheels start operating to stop it;

    • magnetic fields of the permanent magnets are closed by the iron cores and never makes any harm to passengers;

    • dangerous vibrations of a vehicle are eliminated.

  2. Self-Regulation of all devices

  3. Exploitation of permanent magnets as a source of magnetic field:

    • they are significantly less expensive in both manufacture and operation;

    • can be made in small forms of any shape;

    • do not loose their magnetization and levitation ability over time;

    • they do not require:  super cooling;  servo control systems;  source of energy placed inside the vehicle.

  5. Passengers convenience:

    • vehicles can depart from a terminal one by one as they fill up.

  6. Flexible trajectory:

    • Since vehicle speed is determined by the design of the stator winding,  and due  to Amlev self-regulation its track admits radiuses of curves compatible with existing highways and railways;

  7. Power system is simple and reliable.
